St Lucia Honeymoons and Weddings
St Lucia (pronounced Saint LOO-sha) is one of the Windward Islands of the West Indies’ Lesser Antilles, and is nestled halfway down the eastern Caribbean archipelago. St Lucia is known for its natural beauty and diverse attractions, including the signature Piton Mountains - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - a tropical rainforest and one of the world’s few drive-in volcanoes. Culturally rich offerings include the bustling marketplace in the capital of Castries, quaint fishing villages along the coastline, and the annual Saint Lucia Jazz festival. Saint Lucia’s wide range of accommodations includes world-class five-star resorts, all-inclusive resorts, intimate inns and value-oriented properties.
In resort news, Sandals Grande St Lucian plans to build the first over-water suites in St Lucia to be completed by 2012. Sandals Halcyon Beach St Lucia just completed refurbishment of 60 rooms. Coconut Bay Beach Resort has a new mountaintop lighthouse-wedding gazebo. The 3 Sandals Resorts in St Lucia, which also includes Sandals Regency St Lucia, continue to be your most popular choice for an all inclusive St Lucia Honeymoon.
For vacationers who like to shop until they drop, Baywalk Mall located next to Coco Palm will officially open in April. The 60-store complex includes boutiques, restaurants, a beauty salon, jewelry and souvenir stores. The mall will feature the island’s first casino.
Each spring, visitors from around the globe head to Saint Lucia’s Pigeon Island to dance, sing and groove with legendary international, regional and local jazz musicians. Grammy Award winner Corinne Bailey Rae and many other chart-topping artists will perform at the 19th anniversary of Saint Lucia Jazz from May 1 to 9.
Airline partners are scheduling more flights, making travel to St Lucia more accessible and affordable than ever. Last October, JetBlue Airways launched thrice-weekly nonstop service from New York and will announce additional flights shortly. Delta Airlines from Atlanta recently added additional seats to the island, while American Airlines will increase service from New York and Miami starting in July. US Airways will introduce a second non-stop flight from Charlotte beginning May 9, which will continue until August 15.
